Vision New America Announces Recruitment for
2008 Public Policy and Public Health & Policy Internship Programs

High School and College Students to Gain Experience in
Greater Bay Area, Sacramento and Washington D.C. Government Offices

.

SAN JOSE, CA – Vision New America (VNA), a nonpartisan, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote civic participation, educational activities, and leadership development of underrepresented groups starting with the Asian Pacific American community. With that mission in mind, VNA announces recruitment for their 2008 Public Policy and Public Health & Policy Internship Programs. VNA offers over 60 summer internships in elected official offices, government agencies, and policy related organizations.

“I am privileged to be a part of such a wonderful organization that brings together a diverse group of individuals with a common mission,” said VNA Executive Director Liliana Li. “This is a tremendous opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of Public Policy and Public Health Policy.”

VNA Interns are placed in offices on a local, state or federal level in the Bay Area, Sacramento, or Washington D.C.  Internships are specifically catered to high school, college and graduate students.  Combined with community service, voter registration and leadership development courses, each internship program exposes students to the inner workings of government and public policy.  Interns who successfully complete the program’s requirements receive a $300-$1,500 scholarship at the end of their internship.

Interested high school, college, and graduate students can obtain the catalog and application at VNA’s website: http://www.visionnewamerica.org or contact VNA at 408-260-0116.  The deadline for submission of applications is January 31, 2008.

THE MEANING OF VISION NEW AMERICA's NEW LOGO!

  • Symbol of Civic Engagement
  • LInes and form of the flag's symbols show movement, which allude to our recurrent efforts of social change through VNA's internship programs and sponsored events.
  • Since red, white & blue are colors of the United States, their use in VNA's logo further stresses the importance of civic engagement to VNA.

  • Ten stars were chosen to represent VNA's past 10 years of work in the community
  • Each successive bigger star reflects VNA's growth and progress.
  • Each Star symbolizes our belief in the potential and leadership of youth.
  • Portrayed against a blue background, the stars also serve as a light shining in darkness.
  • Each are symbols of truth and spirit: they represent the hope we feel when we see a star in the blue night sky.

  • The biggest and brighteset star embodies our present and our future.
  • It is our hope and our constant striving for positive social change.
  • It is the standard of excellence through which we operate.
  • It is each of our VNA interns who are leaders and social change agents
