Founded in 1997
Vision New America (VNA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation which aims to increase civic participation among underrepresented communities and groups, through matching grants, public policy internship programs, educational conferences and alumni activities. In 2013, we transitioned towards creating a national support network for underfunded grassroots organizations and non-profits that have gone under the radar.
Vision New America (VNA) was founded by a group of local Bay Area leaders who were advocating for equal representation within their government. For nearly two decades, our main focus was on fostering the growth of individual youth leaders and engaging our local communities in social impact projects. Our signature Youth Leadership and Civic Engagement internship program trained and fostered the development of over 450 high school and college students. During their program years, these alumni served over 54,000 hours in elected officials offices from Congressional to City Council; volunteered over 45,000 hours creating and enacting community impact projects; and registered and educated over 6,750 new voters.
VNA Alumni continue to create positive changes and take on leadership roles within their own industries. As of 2017, 20% of our alumni were currently employed in Government/Law; 15% in Advocacy/Social Justice/Education; 13% in Finance, 11% in Health, 28% in Tech, and 13% were pursuing careers in other fields or continuing their education.
Vision New America (VNA) currently funds, develops and supports youth leadership programs that promote civic engagement and education on public policy. VNA also provides grants, scholarships and stipends on training, development and education . Our annual International Leadership Conference is attended by college students and young professionals from three different countries and 28 cities.
